About AllergenKit

What it is

Two things. The free tools — an allergen matrix builder, a one-off food label maker, printable charts and posters — work with no account and keep your data in your browser. AllergenKit Pro (£9/month after a 7-day free trial) offers two routes: save named menus and reusable items directly, without an ingredient catalogue; or save checked supplier ingredients and recipes for labels, recipe matrices, QR menus and records. Review affected outputs after changes.

Why it exists

Small food businesses need accurate information they can maintain as menus, recipes and suppliers change. AllergenKit focuses on useful free tools and a £9/month workspace for repeat work, with no sales call required.

Cafés, delis, market traders, cake sheds and bakeries can use the same tools. Choose the saved-menu walkthrough or the ingredient-label walkthrough for your workflow.

Who's behind it

AllergenKit is built and run by Common Measure, a UK sole-trader software studio. Proprietor and contact details are available on request — email [email protected] and a human (not a ticket system) reads and answers it.

Where responsibility sits

We're careful about this, because it matters: AllergenKit provides the format — tools for organising and printing the information you enter. It does not and cannot know what's in your food. The allergen facts are yours, checking supplier labels on every reorder is yours, and compliance with food law stays with your business. The terms say this plainly, and our guidance links to official sources.

The quiet parts

• Your data stays yours — free-tool drafts are kept in browser storage. Starting a trial can copy a matrix to your account with your action; label drafts are not imported. We use analytics, including session replay, as explained in our privacy notice.
• Your account data lives in a UK-region (London) database, and payments are handled by Stripe — card details never touch our servers.
• No card for the trial, cancel anytime — and Pro editing and printing pause when access ends, but you can sign in to download your saved records as CSV without subscribing.
• Founding-member pricing: your subscription price stays fixed while you remain subscribed. Check the subscription terms.

How we maintain our guides

AllergenKit is responsible for this site’s editorial content. We check material guidance against Food Standards Agency, Food Standards Scotland and other linked official sources, distinguish requirements from best practice, and show the date of the review on each guide. Product examples use synthetic data. Our guides are not regulator approval or a substitute for advice about your own business.

When guidance changes or a correction is identified, we update the relevant text, print resources and modification dates together. Report a correction using the email below.
